WHAT IF THE BEST CHAPTERS OF YOUR LIFE ARE STILL AHEAD OF YOU? – On the courage to dream again, begin again, and refuse to let your past write the ending.
What if this isn’t all there is?
What if everything you’ve experienced so far hasn’t been the peak of your life, but the preparation for something you cannot yet imagine?
What if the most beautiful encounters, the most meaningful decisions, the greatest discoveries, and the moments when you finally feel that you are exactly where you belong are still waiting for you?
I don’t know what stage of life you’re in as you read these words. Maybe you’re living a dream. Maybe you’re trying to put yourself back together after a difficult season. Maybe you feel as though everyone else has already figured everything out while you’re still searching for your path. Or perhaps your life looks good from the outside, yet somewhere deep inside, you sense that you haven’t fully explored what you’re capable of becoming.
I’d like you to pause for a moment and consider this:
You don’t have to know what the next chapter will look like to decide that it’s worth writing.

You Are Not Late to Your Own Life.
For years, we learn that certain things are supposed to happen at certain times.
By a particular age, we should have stability. Then a career, a home, a family, savings, and a sense of security. We should know who we are, what we want, and where we’re going.
But what if our lives don’t fit that plan?
What if we discover what truly makes us happy in our forties? What if we want to change direction after years of working? What if we leave a relationship, walk away from a place we once called home, or begin building something entirely new?
Why are we so quick to believe that some things are already too late for us?
Some dreams need time. Others change as we do. And some must wait until we become the people who are finally able to understand what those dreams mean to us.
You are not behind simply because your journey looks different from someone else’s.
Life isn’t a race in which everyone receives the same plan and must reach the same finish line.
You don’t have to be where everyone else is. You just have to stop ignoring where you want to go.

Sometimes the Future Begins with a Dream That Seems Impossible.
Around sixteen years ago, I went to Porto, Portugal, on an Erasmus exchange. I remember looking at the people, their way of life, their freedom, their everyday routines, and the possibility of discovering the world.
I remember thinking: I would love to live like this.
It was a dream. Not a complete plan. Not a strategy for the years ahead. Not a list of steps that would tell me exactly how to get there.
Just a thought that stayed with me.
Back then, I had no idea that one day I would travel through Asia, meet people whose stories would stay with me long after we said goodbye, create my own projects, and build spaces where human connection would matter more than the place on a map.
I didn’t know that some of my ideas would eventually become more than ideas. That C.U.D. Experience would take shape. That I would begin collecting people’s stories through Shades of Human Life. That helping others would become part of my journey through One Heart.
I had no map leading to the life I live today.
I only had a feeling that somewhere out there was a way of living I wanted to experience for myself.
And perhaps that’s where everything begins. Not with certainty. Not with perfect timing. Not with a guarantee that things will work out.
It begins with a thought we refuse to let die simply because we haven’t figured out how to make it real.
Looking back, I can see that the dream didn’t come true in a single day. It led me through different decisions, changes, uncertainty, and experiences I could never have planned in advance.
Sometimes, the life we’re living today is the answer to a dream that once felt impossibly far away.
That’s why we should be careful with the words “It’s impossible.” Sometimes, something truly isn’t possible. But sometimes, all those words really mean is: “I don’t know how to do it yet.”
And that’s a very different thing.
Some Experiences Teach Us That Being Alive Is Already a Beginning.
There are moments that change the way we look at the future.
A serious illness can take away our sense of control. Suddenly, plans, ambitions, and everyday problems lose some of their former weight. Things that once seemed essential may no longer occupy the same place in our lives.
When we face something we cannot fully control, our greatest dream sometimes stops being about achieving anything at all.
We simply want to live.
To have another chance. To wake up tomorrow. To experience something else, meet someone, go somewhere, create something.
With time, it’s easy to forget that simplicity. We return to our responsibilities, comparisons, ambitions, and endless to-do lists. Once again, we convince ourselves that happiness will begin when we reach the next goal.
And yet, the simple fact that we can make plans at all is extraordinary.
This doesn’t mean we should always feel grateful, strong, and cheerful after difficult experiences. Nor does suffering have to teach us a lesson to deserve compassion.
We can appreciate life and still have difficult days. We can be grateful for another chance and still be searching for something. We can love our lives while wishing some things were different.
Gratitude doesn’t mean giving up on our dreams.
Sometimes, gratitude is precisely what helps us stop putting them off.
You Don’t Need a Perfect Plan. You Need a First Step.
I have a lot of energy, ideas, and a strong need to take action. ADHD is part of my experience, bringing both an intensity of thought and challenges around focus, direction, and the pace at which I’d sometimes like to bring every idea to life.
Sometimes, we want to do everything at once. See more, learn more, create something of our own, be in several places at the same time, and take advantage of every opportunity.
But life doesn’t require us to bring every idea to life simultaneously.
Sometimes, courage isn’t about dropping everything and starting from scratch. It’s about choosing one direction and taking the first step, even when the answers to all our other questions are still unknown.
Maybe you want to change careers. Maybe you want to write a book. Maybe you want to learn something you’ve been thinking about for years. Perhaps you want to travel, return to an old passion, build your own project, or finally tell someone how you really feel.
You don’t have to know what the entire process will look like.
You can begin with a conversation. A single message. An hour spent learning. The first page. The first sketch. One small step towards something that has been calling your attention for a long time.
Big changes rarely begin when everything suddenly becomes clear.
More often, they begin when we stop waiting for perfect conditions.
You don’t need certainty that you’ll reach your goal. You need the willingness to discover what happens when you try.
The Best Chapter May Not Look the Way You Imagined.
When we think about the future, we often create a very specific picture. We imagine a place, a job, a relationship, money, success, or a particular way of living.
And then life brings us something else.
Sometimes we lose something that mattered deeply to us. Sometimes we meet someone who changes the way we think. Sometimes a plan that once seemed perfect no longer fits. And sometimes, a seemingly insignificant decision takes us somewhere we had never considered going.
Travelling has taught me that places matter, but the people we meet in those places can matter even more.
Across Asia, I’ve met people with completely different histories, experiences, and dreams. Some encounters were brief. Others left something inside me that stayed long after we parted ways.
That’s one of the reasons Shades of Human Life came into being. Behind every person is a world we cannot see at first glance. Sometimes, all it takes is one question, an honest conversation, or a moment of genuine attention to see beyond the role someone plays in everyday life.
These encounters have made me understand more deeply that a good life doesn’t have to look impressive from the outside.
It might mean a peaceful morning. A relationship in which you don’t have to pretend. Work that feels meaningful. A home you’re happy to return to. A project that helps others. Or the courage to stop living according to expectations that were never truly yours.
C.U.D. Experience and One Heart grow from different needs, but to me, they share something essential: the belief that life gains meaning not only through what we achieve, but also through what we give, whom we meet, and how we treat people along the way.
Perhaps the best chapter of your life won’t bring you exactly what you want most today.
Perhaps it will bring you something you don’t yet know how to name.
So leave a little room in your future to be surprised.
Don’t Wait Until You’re No Longer Afraid.
I won’t tell you that everything is possible. Not everything is within our control. There are limitations, responsibilities, money, health, commitments, and circumstances we cannot simply ignore.
I also won’t promise that if you want something badly enough, the world will automatically arrange itself according to your wishes.
But I know that sometimes we close doors before we’ve even checked whether they can be opened.
We give up because we’re afraid of failure. We postpone decisions because we don’t want to disappoint others. We stay in places that no longer serve us because at least we know what to expect from them.
Familiarity can disguise itself as safety. And fear can sound remarkably like reason.
Not every change is good. Not every risk is worth taking. But it’s worth asking yourself honestly whether you’re making a genuine choice or simply avoiding the possibility that things might not go according to plan.
Courage doesn’t mean the absence of fear.
It means fear doesn’t always get to make the final decision for us.
You can move slowly. You can prepare. You can ask for help. You can change your mind along the way.
You don’t need to make a giant leap to begin living differently.
Sometimes, all you need to do is stop telling yourself “someday.”
Someday, when I have more money. Someday, when I have more time. Someday, when I feel ready. Someday, when everyone else understands.
But what if that perfect moment never arrives in the form you’re waiting for?
Maybe you don’t need to wait for a new chapter. Maybe you need to start writing it under the conditions you have today.
Your Past Doesn’t Get to Decide Everything That Lies Ahead.
Maybe you’ve made mistakes. Maybe you’ve made decisions you wouldn’t repeat today. Maybe you’ve lost time, trusted the wrong people, abandoned dreams, or spent years trying to be someone you weren’t.
You cannot change what has already happened.
But you can decide what you do with that experience.
Your past can be a teacher, but it doesn’t have to be a prison. You don’t have to spend the rest of your life proving that you’re the person you became during your most difficult moment. You don’t have to repeat old decisions simply because they once seemed like the only solution.
You are allowed to have a new idea of who you want to be.
You’re allowed to change your mind. To learn. To rest. To begin again. To build a life that reflects who you are today more closely than who you were ten years ago.
You can be grateful for the journey you’ve taken, even if you wouldn’t want to go through every part of it again.
You can love the people you’ve met and still move forward.
You can respect your past without giving it the right to write your entire future.
You are not only the sum of what has happened to you. You are also the sum of the choices you can still make.

What If the Best Chapters Are Only Just Beginning?
Imagine yourself five years from now.
Don’t immediately try to decide how much money you’ll make, where you’ll live, or what achievements you’ll be able to list. Ask yourself a different question.
How would you like to feel when you look at your life?
Would you like to have more courage? More peace? Deeper relationships? More time for the things that genuinely matter to you? Would you like to be able to say that you tried, instead of spending years wondering what might have happened if you’d dared to take the chance?
You don’t need to know the answers to every question today.
You only need to start treating your future as a space full of possibilities, rather than merely a consequence of everything that has happened so far.
You’re not too old to learn something new. It’s not too late to change direction. You’re not condemned to live a life that no longer feels like yours simply because you chose it once.
Maybe the best chapter won’t be the most spectacular one.
Maybe it won’t require buying a one-way ticket, leaving everything behind, or proving to anyone that you’re capable of more.
Maybe it will begin when you finally take care of yourself. When you make the phone call you’ve been putting off. When you return to an idea that once set your imagination on fire. When you start building something small but entirely your own. When you allow yourself to be a beginner instead of expecting yourself to be perfect from the start.
Or perhaps, one ordinary day, you’ll look at your life and realise that you’re already living in a place you once only dreamed about.
We focus so much on what we don’t have yet that we fail to notice how many things we once dreamed of have quietly become part of our everyday lives.
Sometimes, a fulfilled dream is simply an ordinary Tuesday.
A morning in a place you once wanted to be. A conversation with someone you might never otherwise have met. Working on a project that existed only in your imagination a few years ago. Having the freedom to choose where you go next.
Not everything will be perfect. Not every day will be easy. Not every plan will succeed.
But you can still try. You can grow. You can love, create, help, discover, and change your mind. You can find new meaning in things that once seemed ordinary.
As long as you’re here, you don’t have to consider your story finished.

Don’t Put Your Life Off Until Later.
I’m not writing this to convince you that you need to change everything tomorrow.
I’m writing because sometimes we need to be reminded that we’re not merely spectators in our own lives.
We cannot control everything. We have no power over every loss, every encounter, or every obstacle. But we often have more influence than we realise over the next step we choose to take.
Today, you can do something small that brings you closer to the life you want.
You can stop waiting for someone else’s permission. You can give yourself the right to dream of something that doesn’t fit their expectations. You can ask for support, learn a new skill, or say yes to an opportunity you’ve been rejecting out of fear.
You don’t need to have everything figured out.
You don’t need to prove that you’re ready.
You don’t need to know how this story will end.
You only need to decide that you don’t want to stop writing it.
And what if, a few years from now, you look back and discover that this moment — this ordinary day when you decided to try — was the beginning of something truly important?
What if there are still people waiting to cross your path who will change the way you see the world? Places where you’ll feel more like yourself? Ideas you cannot yet put into words? A version of you that you haven’t had the chance to meet?
I don’t know exactly what lies in your future.
But I know you don’t have to surrender it to fear, comparison, or the belief that the most important things are already behind you.
You have the right to want more. You have the right to begin differently. You have the right to build a life that genuinely feels like your own.
Not because you must keep achieving more.
But because your life can still surprise you.
What if the best chapters of your life are only just beginning?
Maybe you don’t need to know their titles yet.
Maybe all you need is the courage to write the first sentence today.
